Recognition for Association`s Head of Finance
Wirral Methodist Housing Association's popular Head of Finance, Sandra Huyton was runner up in the Adele Carr Recruitment- Accounting Professional of the Year-sponsored by Jackson Stephen LLP. 2011. She was nominated by Chief Executive, Alun Hughes in recognition of the impact she has made and the professionalism she has shown since moving from Merseyside Police (where she was Chief Accountant Central Services) to the world of charitable housing associations. Alun Hughes said, "Not only has Sandra had to cope with the steepness of the learning curve in that transition, but she has joined us at a time of unprecedented change following the election of the new Coalition Government bringing with it complex challenges in delivery of the new Affordable Rent Housing Programme. Not only has Sandra successfully come to terms with all this but she has overseen the installation of a new SDM computer system and played a part in the delivery of a £2.2m loan through an innovative £76m Bond Issue arranged by the Housing Finance Corporation. Competition judges said, "It is clear that Sandra is very proactive in the approach to her job, passionate about her work and has been able to transform the whole financial set up in the business". "She appears to have made an immediate impact in the business having appeared to have been dropped in at the deep end when she started. She has made substantial change within the organisation and appears highly committed-and all this in an organisation that is significantly different from her previous position". In congratulating Sandra on the recognition that she success brings, Alun Hughes said, "Sandra is popular amongst the staff of the Association who in addition appreciate her dedication to her work and we are all delighted for her".
