Jan and Chris Asbeil for Charity

Published 5th October 2011

After a delay of an hour, which added to the nerves of Chris and Jan from our Housing Dept. They were strapped into their harnesses and made their way up the 130 steps to the top of Leasowe Lighthouse. Once up inside the lightroom, they stepped out of the window and onto the windy parapet. An instructor made a final check of their equipment and then, one at a time, they stepped off the edge and started their 110ft abseil down the outside of the lighthouse. “It was the scariest thing I`ve ever done in my life” said Jan “and a very big thank you to everyone who took the time to come along and cheer me on and to those who sponsored me”. Chris added “It was a fantastic experience and one that I`d love to have the chance to do again, and thank you to everyone that sponsored and supported me on the day”. Chris and Jan raised £305 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Who provide end of life care to terminally ill patients in their own homes, or in one of their nine hospices.
