Applying For Housing- Wirral Area

Steps for finding a home whether you need a flat for single occupancy , a family home or sheltered accommodation

Step 1

Register with Property Pool Plus on the data base in person at- 

  • The Conway centre, Conway Street, Birkenhead
  • Any One Stop Shop

or..

  • You can download an application form a www.propertypoolplus.org.uk will need to take proof of identification, current address and any other information that may be of help with your application.

Step 2

Search and find out any vacant properties you may be interested in by:

  • Checking the weekly advert displayed at Wirral Methodist HA Office, The Conway Centre, or any One Stop Shop
  • On the internet at www.propertypoolplus.org.uk

The property details will include the person/ family suitable for that particular home.

Step 3

When you see a home that you are interested in:

  • First visit the area, to see if the area /property is suitable for your needs.  Only apply for properties that you are sure that you want to live in.
  • Register your interest with PropertyPool Plus- in person, by phone fax or email before the closing date. The advert appears on Wednesday and the deadline for applying is the following Tuesday at midday. You can apply for up to two properties each week. Remember that there is no guarantee that you will be offered the home that you have applied for.

Step 4

What happens next

After the closing date the landlord will look at all the people who have shown interest in their property. The person who has the most need, is the closest match, and has been registered longest may be asked to attend an interview at their office.   

The landlord will need some personal information, at this point, to help them decide if the home you have applied for is suitable for you and your family. A credit check and references may be carried out, with permission, and you may then be invited to view and sign up for the property. Having rent arrears or neighbour nuisance issues may stop you being offered a Tenancy.

Please note: they will only contact the person who is nearest the top of the list and who`s needs closest match their criteria. You will NOT be advised if you are unsuccessful.
